About This Webinar

This engaging session is designed to support educators in leveraging service-learning principles as a powerful tool for student wellbeing, social-emotional learning, and community connection. Educators will explore the core principles of service-learning and examine how acts of service build social awareness, foster belonging, and help students connect emotions to action. Participants will leave with actionable tools, step by step guides to project planning and classroom ready lesson plans focused on community wellbeing and service through the Realize the Dream Initiative in partnership with the King Family.

Speakers

Kelsey Heyd

Director, Education Strategy and Partnerships, Education +

Kelsey is the Director of Education Strategy and Partnerships at Education +. She holds a Masters in Diversity, Equity and Social Justice Education from the University of Western Ontario. Kelsey has built her career working at the intersection of education, community engagement and career readiness programming. She brings a particular passion for experiential education programs and opportunities to bridge curriculum with real-world applications.

Bushra Ul-Haq is the Director of Educational Programs and Resources at Education+. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto, where she received a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Education. She has been an elementary school teacher, and she has been designing educational programs for international organizations for the last decade. Bushra is passionate about the work she gets to do developing educational programs and designing curricula for teachers in supporting their classrooms.
