About This Webinar

In today’s classrooms, disagreement is inevitable, but disrespect does not have to be. From political polarization to social media influence, educators are navigating increasingly charged conversations among students, families, and colleagues. This session equips educators with practical strategies to foster respectful disagreement while maintaining psychological safety, trust, and academic rigor.

Drawing from research on communication, meaningful work, and social emotional learning, participants will learn how to reframe disagreement as a skill rather than a disruption. The session introduces a simple, repeatable framework educators can use to guide difficult conversations, de escalate tension, and model respect without silencing diverse perspectives.

Participants will explore how respectful disagreement supports student voice, critical thinking, and inclusive learning environments across grade levels. Educators will leave with actionable tools they can immediately apply in classroom discussions, staff meetings, and family conversations. The session is designed to be highly interactive, allowing attendees to reflect on their own experiences and practice strategies in a supportive setting.

This webinar is ideal for educators seeking to strengthen classroom culture, improve communication, and help students learn how to engage across differences with empathy, clarity, and confidence.

This webinar is part of Share My Lesson's 2026 Virtual Conference. Join the community or register for all sessions.

I was hoping to gain…

I was hoping to gain strategies for respectful disagreement in the classroom that I can use to coach my students. At 45 minutes into the webinar, so far we've discussed only whether or not respectful disagreement is possible.

The speaker was engaging and I wanted to like the seminar. But I got half an hour in and had gotten precisely nothing out of it. So I left.

The practical strategies for…

The practical strategies for educators, namely the 5 pillars, and some words of wisdom scattered in the webinar were helpful, but there was not enough focus on what I expected the webinar to be. The speaker was confident and charismatic, but I was left wanting more from the webinar
