Addressing Gun Violence: Lesson Plans and Resources

About This Collection

Teaching About Gun Violence in the Classroom

This collection of gun violence lesson plans helps middle and high school students explore public safety, constitutional rights and civic responsibility through structured, classroom-ready resources.

Students examine key questions such as:

  • How does gun violence affect communities?

  • What does the Second Amendment say, and how has it been interpreted?

  • How do federal and state gun laws differ?

  • What role can civic engagement and public policy play in addressing complex issues?

Designed for grades 6–12, these lessons support critical thinking, evidence-based discussion and respectful civil discourse around a challenging topic.
