About This Lesson
This authentic task is a structured written reflection for Grade 6 students, designed to help them think critically about their work in a unit on design and innovation. After completing a comparison task involving poems and articles, students select one prompt from each of four sections—Starter, Deep Dive, Creative, and Metacognitive—to guide their reflection. They must write in full sentences, using "because" to explain their thinking, and are assessed on depth of reflection, organization, word choice, and grammar. The goal is to encourage self-awareness, connections between texts, and thoughtful consideration of their learning process.
