About This Lesson

In Unit 4, students in grade 8 explore how writers use voice, imagery, and language to express identity, emotions, and real experiences. Teen life includes pressure, belonging, friendship, and the struggle to be understood—literature helps us make meaning of these feelings and share them responsibly.

In this authentic performance task, students will step into the role of a Teen Storyteller and Voice Artist, preparing to present at the Grade 8 Expression Expo. They will write a realistic dialogue between friends and then curate their best writing into a creative group showcase.
